Dr. Richard Mathes

DVM & Co-Owner

Dr. Richard A. Mathes received his DVM degree from Oklahoma State University in 1991. After being in practice for several years and experiencing frustration with the limitations of conventional medicine, he began to pursue an interest in alternative healing techniques. Initially, the IVAS course in Veterinary Acupuncture was completed in 1993, and then the chiropractic technique known as Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation was added. Soon after, coursework in Chinese Herbs was finished to help deepen the understanding and implementation of Traditional Chinese Medicine as it applies to animals. When not caring for animals large and small, Dr. Mathes cultivates his family’s farmstead with chickens, cats, goats, his recently adopted dog, Ace, and whatever animals his two daughters bring home in their own endeavors. He also enjoys taking rides on his Harley Davidson motorcycle and ruling the sky in his Cessna airplane. He is a skilled chef, a passionate history buff, and a worldly traveler.

Dr. Catherine Homrig

DVM & Co-Owner

Dr. Homrig received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Oklahoma State University. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from OSU. She and Dr. Richard Mathes established Pumpkin Hill Veterinary Clinic in 1996 and have actively partnered in the Clinic’s growth and advancement. Dr. Homrig has completed a Level Two Clinical Qigong Certification and advanced studies in Veterinary Homeopathy with Dr. Richard Pitcairn. She is devoted to her family’s farm, which includes goats, chickens, cats, their new rescue dog Ace, and whatever other additions make their way to her homestead. She enjoys nature, wild birds, dancing, friends, food, and gardening. She is a true educator at heart and rejoices in every opportunity to share the wonder of learning with those around her.

“Being a Veterinarian has been my calling since early childhood. Every human-animal bond is uniquely fascinating. I receive great fulfillment from supporting the well-being and depth of that sacred bond from beginning to end. Veterinary Medicine stretches me in every aspect to learn more and to constantly be more. I am honored to make my small circle of the world healthier and happier by thoughtfully interacting with dynamic four-legged and two-legged individuals using my ever-expanding knowledge. Witnessing miracles firsthand and minimizing suffering with compassion and respect is a divine-driven journey I strive to complete using all my potential.”

Tiffany Stone

Office Manager

Tiffany is a brand new addition to our team that we are ecstatic to welcome on board. She has a veterinary technician degree from the Vet Tech Institute in Pittsburgh, PA. She chose the veterinary field due to her life-long love of animals and desire to help them in their times of need. She was encouraged to join our team due to the sense of community she felt from our clients and staff members. Tiffany is the devoted pet mom of two cats, Maple and Toastie, and she jokes the three of them make “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.” Outside of the clinic she enjoys drawing, baking, gaming, and camping!

Kim Bartz

Licensed Veterinary Technician

Kim has an associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology from Medaille College. She joined the Pumpkin Hill Team in July of 2005. Ever since she was little, she has wanted to work with animals, and being a vet tech seemed the best way to do that. She loves the mix of conventional and alternative medicine that Pumpkin Hill provides. In 2019, Kim went down to part-time so she could be home with her son Tristan, but still manages things behind the scenes at Pumpkin Hill. She also has a four-legged “kid,” Ivy, a black lab. Since then, she’s welcomed another boy, Nathan, to the family, and this fall, 2024, their family will grow once more. Outside work, Kim enjoys reading, baking, and taking walks with Ivy, Tristan, and Nathan.

Angela Pitoni

Angela completed her veterinary technician degree through Medaille College; as a shadowing student, Angela loved Pumpkin Hill so much she decided to stay as a full-time tech. Angela has deep roots in the community and has lived here her whole life. Outside of work, she has many animals she cares for including goats, ducks, rabbits, horses, cats, and dogs. Angela is also the proud mother of 2 little boys, Gavin and Luke, who constantly keep her on her toes.

Outside the office, Amethyst enjoys kayaking, making stained glass, woodworking, and other crafts. Amethyst is a proud pet parent of two doodles named Karma and Winston and four cats, Addyson, Barnaby, Gemma, and Leo. Last year, in April of 2023, she welcomed a lovely new baby girl, Emerald, into the world, and she has been a joyful new addition to Amethyst’s life.

Kayla chose this field because she wants to help animals and people. Animals have been the focus of her life since she was a child. She joined Pumpkin Hill Vet Clinic in November of 2021 with the intent to learn as much as she could about the veterinary world. She loves that every day is different and that she gets to use her love and passion for animals on a daily basis. She has one adorable dog, Sawyer, two budgies, three tortoises, and two cats, who she adores with her whole heart. She is an avid birdwatcher, natural photographer, singer/songwriter, and hiker. The outdoors is her favorite place to be, and there is nothing more precious to her soul than appreciating the beauty of our planet.
